Martin per quanto bello, aspetterei ancora un pò a iniziare... è vero che materiale ce n'è, ma se leggi spedito finisci prima che il Vecchio Ciccione termini il nuovo libro... quindi aspetta :)

Dragonlance, bella con gli occhi della gioventù e da giocatore di ruolo ^_^ di Weis-Hickman meglio il Ciclo di Deathgate, storia molto più intesa e articolata e qualche drago non manca, e anche discretamente lunga (7 libri non massicci)!

Se vuoi rimanere sul semplice, e media lunghezza c'è Eddings e la saga dei Belgariad/Mallorean (10 volumi totali, ma ognuno è la metà o meno di uno di Jordan). Presenza draghi, 1.
Semplice, pieno di voluti cliché, ma i suoi personaggi ti rimarranno nel cuore.

p.s.: @silma: il libro è in scrittura dal 2005/2006. A mio parere prima di Autunno 2011 non lo vediamo... Martin ha mille progetti, e partecipa a mille convention... difficile trovare il tempo per sedersi, concentrarsi e scrivere...
