“I have seen your like before,” Noal said suddenly. The stooped old man was the image of hard age and exhaustion, but his eyes were bright and sharp studying Mat. “Some men have an air about them that makes other men follow where they lead. Some lead to devastation, others to glory. I think your name may go into the history books.”
Harnan looked as confused as Fergin. Vanin spat and lay back down, opening his book.
“If all my luck goes away, maybe,” Mat muttered. He knew what it took to get into the histories. A man could get killed, doing that sort of thing.

"Ho visto gente come te prima d'ora" disse Noal all'improvviso. Il vecchio incurvato era l'immagine dello sfinimento e dell'età avanzata, ma i suoi occhi erano vividi e acuti mentre studiava Mat. Harnan parve confuso almeno quanto Fergin. Vanin sputò e si appoggiò all'indietro, aprendo il suo libro.
"Se tutta la mia fortuna mi abbandona, forse" mormorò Mat. Sapeva cosa ci voleva per entrare nelle storie. Un uomo poteva rimanere ucciso, facendo quel genere di cose.

Lui se ne andò, borbottando fra sè. Era proprio da Aes Sedai. Offriti di aiutarla e , in men che non si dica, ti costringe a scalare un precipizio scosceso nel mezzo della notte per far evadere cinquanta persone da una segreta tutto da solo. Quello era stato un altro uomo, morto da lungo tempo, ma se lo ricordava, e calzava.
