    Finito. Capitolo ugualmente introduttivo ma stavolta dal POV di Egwene.

    Interessante, ma non farà che alimentare ancora la vostra curiosità... mi aspetto scene molto gustose in questo libro.

    il titolo è "The Nature of Pain"

    fantastico! E io che pensavo di essere duro d'orecchio, soprattutto per l'inglese, ma sta tipa l'ha letto così bene e attentamente che sono riuscito a seguirlo tutto e soprattutto a capirlo per filo e x segno!

    Egwene è incredibile e tra un po', se va avnti così, vedremo Silviana inchinarsi e riconoscerla Amyrlin! Più è costretta a picchiarla e più si renderà conto dell'assurdità che le stanno facendo fare!


    anni fa avevo scritto sul capitolo di Egwene in KOD, che la zuppa l'avrei vista bene, versata sulla testa di Elaida, ma ci sono arrivato vicino eh! va bene anche così!!!

    se la missione di Pevara avrà successo e quindi la Rossa non ne verrà distrutta, penso che Egwene farebbe bene a tenersi Silviana come seconda Maestra delle Novizie (che adesso sono così tante) e magari anche Tarna Custode degli Annali se Sheriam verrà rimossa, le due sono molto valide e così, pur rimuovendo Elaida, l'Ajah Rossa non verrebbe del tutto umiliata e la Torre si riunirebbe più facilmente...

    Il capitolo è stato carino, tra l'altro confermo anche io che era semplice da sentire, ciononostante non c'è chissà cosa di nuovo: abbiamo solo riconfermato che Elaida è 'the fool' (come la chiama Graendal nel prologo).
    Per il resto Egwene riconferma i propositi che avevamo già avuto modo di leggere in KOD.

    come ho letto su Dragonmount, Egwene dimostra di aver imparato completamente la lezione Aiel x essere più forte senza diventare anche più dura (come dimostrano le sue risate di fronte al dolore)... proprio il contrario di quanto sta facendo Rand

    inoltre sempre a proposito di Rand: l'atteggiamento di Egwene nei suoi confronti è ancora premuroso infatti si incazza quando ricorda cosa Elaida gli ha fatto passare!

    Riassunto capitolo 2 in inglese:

    Egwene is being punished by Silviana. The punishment drags out, and as Egwene has to serve Elaida that evening, she cannot go to the evening meal. Silviana orders her to eat after serving Elaida, then come to her for further punishment. Egwene meets Katarine and Berasine, two Red sisters, outside of Silviana's quarters. She takes her forkroot tea, then asks the two Reds if they are pleased with what is happening with the Tower, as a group of Yellows pass them by, with their shawls and some holding the Power. Katarine almost gets into a discussion with Egwene, but she catches herself. Egwene goes towards Elaida's quarters, but she has plenty of time before she's supposed to arrive, so she walks slowly--she doesn't want to arrive early; it shows too much deference. She ends up facing a mural that has moved... and had its picture changed. The Dark One's touch spreads further. She now has to hurry, as the corridors have changed, and while she doesn't want to be early, she also doesn't want to be late. She debates internally how she should act towards Elaida, and after entertaining the thought of confronting her, the image of Elaida ordering her locked up--or executed--makes her decide to be quiet throughout the evening. She arrives at Elaida's study and knocks. Meidani opens the door, but Egwene doesn't know her, simply wondering why an Aes Sedai is answering the door rather than a servant. She walks in and after Elaida mentions sending her to back to Silviana for not curtsying, she bows her head, hating it at the same time. She says nothing and simply begins serving them food; heavily spiced soup to cover any spoilage. Elaida begins poking at Meidani, asking her her opinion of several things, including the Rebels and the Seanchan, driving Egwene further and further up a wall. Elaida also calls Meidani by name, so Egwene knows she is one of the ferrets--then realizes that Elaida knows too. Finally, Elaida mentions changing the Three Oaths to include an oath of obedience to the Amyrlin Seat. The thought of Aes Sedai being forced to obey Elaida in that manner infuriates Egwene. She knows that she cannot respond, that it would lead to disaster, so she ends the evening by spilling the soup on Elaida's Tairen rug. Elaida jumps up angrily and orders Meidani to help Egwene with the spill, then goes to the door to call servants. Egwene whispers to Meidani that she wants to speak with her, that Meidani is to summon her later. Meidani hesitates but Egwene convinces her, praising her for her work with Elaida. The former Red orders Egwene to Silviana's study, and Egwene leaves. As Elaida didn't order her there immediately, she follows Silviana's earlier order to get some food, as she takes too much Healing every day to not eat. When she returns to Silviana's study for her punishment, Silviana is reading a book about Amyrlins. Egwene explains what happened--though she doesn't mention that she spilled the soup on purpose--and Silviana looks very thoughtful when Egwene mentions Elaida's harebrained scheme with the Oaths. The punishment begins, and a while into it, Egwene starts laughing--she has suddenly realized what the Aiel do. The idea that she could be brought in line through spanking is utterly absurd to her--the pain she feels as seeing the Tower in its current state under Elaida, far outweighs the physical pain of the strap. Silviana stops, concerned, and asks if Egwene is all right. Egwene explains her epiphany, and Silviana says that she cannot refuse to punish Egwene. Egwene agrees, but asks what Silviana said about Shemerin. Silviana recounts that it happened because Shemerin accepted it. Egwene then states she will not accept it, and that Silviana beats the Amyrlin Seat and they can laugh about it. The punishment continues and Egwene judges it "insignificant" and waits impatiently for it to end, as she has a lot of work to do.

    Il suo atteggiamento è si premuroso, ma completamente aes sedai ormai, tanto che a un certo punto nel capitolo pensa a cosa stava combinando rand in giro senza guida...

    Bel capitolo (anche perchè Egwene in veste di Amyrlin mi ha sempre appassionato), non vedo l'ora di sapere cosa farà come prossima mossa la nostra eroina! E poi:

    <<Egwene sat down on a stool before the desk, not flinching at the immediate sharp pain of her
    backside, and spoke calmly about the evening, omitting the fact that she had dropped the bowl of
    soup on purpose. She did, however, say that she'd dropped it after Elaida had talked of revoking
    and changing the Three Oaths. Silviana looked very thoughtful at that.
    "Well," the woman said, standing up and fetching her lash, "the Amyrlin has spoken."

    Invece Elaida si sta scavando da sola una fossa sempre più profonda...mi sta un po' deludendo.. [SM=x494547]

    Qualcuno mi potrebbe invece illuminare su chi è Shemerin per piacere? Ho un vuoto di memoria e KoD l'ho prestato e non ce l'ho sotto mano per andare a vedere (se era lì che veniva fuori questo nome...)

    Shemerin è l'Aes Sedai che Elaida ha deciso di punire facendola tornare Ammessa.

    Il capitolo è bello, ma considerando che il 11 era finito con l'attesa per l'incontro con Elaida, mi aspettavo di più.


    Probabilmente è più giusto così, ma era 2 anni che attendevo questo faccia a faccia...



    Comuqnue sono sempre più convinto che Egwene prenderà il potere quando ci sarà l'attacco dei Seanchan.

    cmq, nihilim, effettivamente egwene la sua guerra la vincerà solo se riesce a mettere le aes sedai tutte dalla sua parte...e a quel punto potrà rivalersi anche su elaida... ora come ora è controproducente mettersi a bisticciare con elaida (anche perchè più di tanto egw non potrebbe fare), molto meglio tramare "nell'ombra"...
